"Treat me right"

Checklist for transporting cylinders in vehicles by private persons

Please make sure to observe the following to transport your composite gas cylinder safely and by the rules.

  • Make sure there is a hazard label on your composite gas cylinder.
  • Avoid open flame and sparks when loading and transporting the cylinder.
  • Close the valve and screw on a sealing nut to make sure no gas can escape.
  • Protect the cylinder from tipping, slipping or rolling around. We offer FIXIT in our online shop to help with that. Click here!
  • Make sure there is adequate ventilation in the vehicle.
  • Gas cylinders can be transported in motor vehicles only temporarily (an hour at most).
  • Only 333 kg of liquid gas may be transported in a vehicle at any one time.
"Treat me right"

Treat empty cylinders just like full ones.
Use and store LPG cylinders only upright, and only in well-ventilated rooms or outdoors.
Just one gas cylinder may be used per apartment. It’s OK to store one (but only one) reserve cylinder in another room.

“I can’t go there”
Your composite gas cylinder may NOT be stored in the following areas:

  • Cellar
  • Hall
  • Passageway or thoroughfare
  • Stairwell
  • Bedroom
  • Emergency exit
  • Escape route

“I can be replaced”
Here’s how you connect a new gas cylinder to a consumer device.

  1. Close the cylinder valve.
  2. Remove the pressure regulator.
  3. Replace the cylinder.
  4. Screw the pressure regulator onto the new cylinder, making sure to get a good seal.
  5. Open the cylinder valve.
  6. Check the sealing of the pressure regulator connection with a foaming substance (e.g. soap).

"so you fill me"

You’ll need to have your composite gas cylinder filled by trained personnel at an approved cylinder filling station. LPG germany GmbH opened its first cylinder filling station in Elze! We invite you to come by our shop and fill up your composite gas cylinder.

You can also fill it at any other cylinder filling station in Germany that offers this service.

Warning! Filling the cylinder yourself at a vehicle filling station creates the danger of serious injury or death, which is why it’s prohibited. For your own safety, just don’t do it. If something goes wrong, the cylinder can explode and injure you severely. Only a trained professional can determine the correct fill amount for your gas cylinder.
